Soul Families

✨ The Soul Families model

On this page, I will present an overview of the Soul Family model. We will discuss its origins, principles, and benefits.

👁️ History of the model

The Soul Families model was created by Diane LeBlanc, a Canadian woman. She officially presented it in 2009 with the release of her book, Welcome to the 5th Dimension. Despite the somewhat esoteric title, it nonetheless contains a concrete model that builds upon several existing concepts. As the author herself says: “I haven’t invented anything. The only skill I have is an ability to summarize […]. I used my education and training, books I read. I analyzed texts, lessons that I attended, and I realized that it was all connected”.

This is what attracted us to it at first: in addition to its power, the model had a very concrete nature. As you will see in this website, it mentions several topics of modern conventional psychology. You will find concepts like the drama triangle, chakras, the grief process, the law of attraction, psychological trauma, references from The Celestine Prophecy etc.

Surprisingly, the business world is what helped me discover this personal development model. In 2008, we took part in the “Reconnecting with Our Soul Family” workshop. Since then, we’ve continued to use this model in our therapy sessions, our business coaching sessions and in our families and personal lives.

🔍 Basics of the model

There are five soul families: Builders, Peacemakers, Visionaries, Passers and Sages. Each of us belongs to one of these five families from the moment we enter this Earth.

Each family has its own characteristics: what revitalizes us, what nourishes us, what inspires us. Our family can give us insight into what we might find enjoyable as a career, what we can expect from our family or relationships. They determine what makes sense to us, our spiritual leanings, our strengths, our attributes, our challenges, our reactions to stress and adversity and, most importantly, what we are here on this Earth to do. In a certain way, they are our true nature.

✅ Value of the model

There are two main reasons why you should know what your soul family is. The first is for you – to help you understand how you operate and to help you find your place in this world. The second is for others. If your child, spouse or coworker is from a different soul family than you, they will operate differently. What’s good for you won’t necessarily be good for them … But by learning about the various soul families, you can better understand how you act, how others act, and how you might interact with each other.

In short, our soul families not only help us understand ourselves, but we have found soul families to be extraordinary tools that help us better understand the world around us.

Important: you have, in this lifetime, a single soul family, and that will not change for the rest of it. There is no hierarchy to soul families. No one family is better than any other.

🌈 Chakras

Sometimes, we may use colors to describe a soul family. We may talk about the Red and Orange Builders, or Yellow or Green Peacemakers, or Blue and Purple Visionaries. What does this mean? Simply put, each soul family is connected to a chakra.

And what exactly is a chakra?

A chakra – meaning “wheel” in Sanskrit – is an energetic center that absorbs and distributes a subtle energy, “chi”, throughout our body, via meridians* and nadis*. We can draw a certain parallel with our circulatory system and its various arteries and veins. Our chakras circulate energy.

Acupuncture, yoga, tai-chi and many other practices use them to treat their practitioners and improve their day-to-day life.

Our chakras are located along our spinal column. Each one has a color, a function and a relationship with certain organs. There are seven main chakras: the root chakra, the sacral chakra, the solar plexus chakra, the heart chakra, the throat chakra, the third eye chakra and the crown chakra.

How healthy or unhealthy they are influences our physical, emotional and spiritual states. They may be balanced or unbalanced, excessive or deficient.

Discovering that each soul family is related to a chakra will give you an additional level of clarity that allows you to better understand the characteristics, preferences and physical aversions of all families – not just your own.
